Herbs of winning heart

Updated: Apr 7

A woman living in a woods did not have very good relations with her husband. She always felt that her husband does not love her. She went to a monk living in the forest one day, and said to the monk, “Your honour, my husband used to keep me very well, but his love for me has not been equal for many years. He is like a stone. I have heard a lot about you. You give me some herbs that my husband’s love may be restored and I can subdue him. ”

After listening to all the things, the monk said, “Sister! I will make a special medicine for this, and I need the hair of a tiger mustache to make this medicine. Say, can you get it?” The woman was born and brought up in the forest, so she was brave and she firmly said yes. The next day she set out in search of a tiger. She saw a tiger near a cave. So she was glad that tiger was found. Now its mustache will also be found. As she began approaching tiger, the tiger roared. That woman panicked and turned away. Standing away, she started to see the tiger, but could not muster the courage to go near it.

She started going to the cave every day. Sometimes she also carried meat for the tiger. And kept it at a distance. With the passage of time, both of them started liking the presence of each other. Now the fear of the woman also started to reduce. The tiger too had stopped roaring now. Now one day the woman came to the tiger, and started waving at the tiger’s body. The tiger did not say anything, so gently pulled a hair of his mustache. And running she reached the monk, and put the hair of the tiger’s mustache in the monk’s hand and said,

“Here, Maharaj ! this is the hair of the tiger and now make me a herb to tame my husband.” The ascetic put the hair into the fire.

The woman said angrily, “What have you done? Instead of making herbs from the hair I brought so hard, you burned it!”

The monk replied laughingly – “Sister! You still do not understand that if love and patience also tame a violent creature like a tiger, then your husband is a human being.”

It has been said in Suktamuktavali that –

“Ko na maati vasham loke Mujhe pinden pooritah Mridango Mukhalepen Karoti Madhuradhvanim. “

Meaning : “Who does not get controlled in this world by giving food in the mouth? He also makes a sweet sound by applying a paste on the face of mridang.”

We want to tame people but have not adopted it properly. And that’s why they were not able to get people’s love.

Remember :

  1. “Love and patience endures even a hard-hearted person.”

  1. By giving love, that organism becomes our own. The living beings in the world need love and consolation.

  1. “The living being belongs to the one who wants it.”

If the clock remains unkeyed even for a day, then it stops, it does not move. If an unconscious-like clock also needs the support of a key, will the conscious creature not need love?

When the frantic bull came to the gaushala near Navsari, no one except a small eight-year-old child was able to calm him down with his hands. And he told his secret in one sentence :

“If you love, you will get love.”

Let us pledge that, I will not only love gentlemen and relatives, but will also love enemies and the wicked.
